By October 9, 2017Melanie Letore

Zanele Muholi at Centre Clark – “Zanele Muholi takes inspiration from her one experience to defend and unveil the visual history of the LGBTI community”.

Anne-Marie Proulx at Occurrence  – On the image is written: “The landscape must be destroyed for us to move in it” (my translation). “Anne-Marie [director of VU] takes on the question of landscape by focusing on the relationship between humankind and nature.”

Akram Zaatari, “Letter to a Refusing Pilot”  at Dazibao – I had seen this work at the Venice Biennale in 2013, but not in its entirety. “Akram Zaatari is interested in the history of postwar Lebanon, particularly media coverage of political conflicts.”

Taryn Simon at MAC – Impossible flower arrangements reproduced from famous political signings “Paperwork and the Will of Capital”

Meryl McMaster at MBAM – “By means of photography and a performative approach, Meryl McMaster explores the identity of First Nations and their cultural context.”
